Who We Are

CitiIMPACT is a Christian humanitarian non profit (501c3) organization dedicated to fighting the causes of poverty and injustice, especially as it relates to children.

Background:
IMPACT, under JD and Toni Smith, started in 1995 as an inner-city ministry working with at-risk youth and families in West Virginia.  IMPACT provided summer camps, after school programs, mentoring, parenting classes, guidance, advocacy, and God's love.  In  August of 2001, they followed God's nudging to move to the Charlotte, NC area, where they have been since.  They have continued the relationships with many of those children and families. 

Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in August 2005. CitiIMPACT utilized it's many national connections and soon became a bridge between those desperate for help and those desiring to help. Through CitiIMPACT millions of dollars worth of supplies were shipped into the region. Thousands of people came to serve through teams and long term volunteers. Hundreds of homes were worked on. We provided in excess of 8000 Christmas gifts to children at our outreaches! The hopeless found hope. Lives were changed and lasting friendships formed. Even now, teams are still going to New Orleans to help with the rebuilding.
